Ofei Sakyi is the creator of the BAFTA-nominated music-game franchise DJ Hero. After selling his start-up to a consortium of Freestyle Games, and S&P 500 titan Activision Blizzard, he has dedicated his life to Africa, creative expression, and entrepreneurship—with a deep focus on systems that drive meaningful social change.

A few years after selling my company, I found myself standing before tens of thousands of people, closing one of the UK’s most iconic cultural festivals. It was a surreal moment—what I now call my “spirit years.” In that time, I travelled across continents, immersed myself in creativity, and shared parts of myself I hadn’t yet known how to articulate. It wasn’t a sabbatical—it was a season of expression, immersion, and discovery that reshaped how I approach everything I build today.

What I learned is that creativity and commerce are not opposites—they draw from the same source. That principle now guides everything I do.

Today, I’m immersed in property development, specialising in high-end conversions—from commercial-to-residential transformations to multi-unit schemes. My approach is design-led and rooted in enhancing quality of life. I believe everyone deserves to live in a space that supports their well-being, fosters community, and sparks inspiration. With that ethos at the forefront, we approach each development not as a structure, but as a transformative space—something that leaves a lasting imprint on the people it serves.

As an investor, I’m backing two product ventures currently in development:

  • A skincare brand focused on high-performance, identity-affirming formulas rooted in diasporic tradition and ingredient integrity. It’s being produced by one of the UK’s leading cosmetics manufacturers—whose last product became the fastest-selling item in Boots’ history.

  • A fashion line reimagining modern silhouettes through globally resonant storytelling, grounded in West African culture.

Both are celebrity-backed and preparing for a 2026 launch. Further details available on request.

I also sit on the board of SolarGrow Global Ltd, a leading horticultural innovation and food security company focused on the research, development, and medicinal use of fauna and flora from equatorial Africa. Based in London, the company owns 600 acres of fertile land and has access to over 13,000 acres, with 30 acres already dedicated to active research. With a world-class board and progressive regulatory positioning, SolarGrow is uniquely placed to drive breakthrough developments in global health, agriculture, and climate-aligned commerce.

I remain closely connected to the start-up ecosystem. Having led teams across healthcare, tech, and pharmaceuticals, I now serve as a non-executive director and advisor—primarily to early-stage ventures. I bring particular value in fundraising, investor relations, and founder coaching. My sweet spot lies in the early phase: product-market fit, culture-building, and sharpening the clarity of the mission.

I’m always looking to connect with founders, investors, and creatives building toward a more thoughtful and equitable future.
